This course is a motivating and focussed programme designed to 'fast track' English as an Additional Language (EAL) students into the mainstream curriculum of their future school. The course can be any length from 2 to 6 weeks and all English language levels are accepted. Students are grouped by English language ability and by age. The emphasis is on developing all the language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing while extending the specialist vocabulary of academic school subjects. At the end of their course, students may return to school in their own country or join the Boarding Schools Foundation Course at Alexanders and go on to complete their education at a boarding school in the UK. Students attending English for Education courses will also be required to wear the school uniform which consists of black trousers, white shirt, black shoes and the Alexanders sweatshirt. The cost of the sweatshirt has been included in the course fees and it will be given to the student on arrival. After class and on Sundays our Sports and Activities programme extends each student's vocabulary and English language skills as well as providing the opportunity to make new friends. Each evening, students have the chance for individual study and a full social programme which changes regularly. On Saturday an excursion to Ipswich provides the chance to explore this interesting local town, to go shopping and relax away from school. Occasional recreational excursions to other towns and cities are arranged from time to time. Prior to enrolment, students will be asked to provide a copy of their latest school report (translated into English if possible). School Groups This course can be tailored to suit the needs of an individual school and a particular group of students. Students come with their own teachers who work alongside Alexanders' specialist English language and academic staff to continue their children's education in the UK. Courses can be from 1 week. Fees vary according to the size of the group and 1 free teacher place is offered without charge for every 10 students attending.
