International GCSEs (One and Two Year Programmes)

Students who achieve an appropriate level of English language and who demonstrate the potential to succeed can be entered for International GCSEs in:

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Business Studies
• Art
• IT
• First Language (if available at IGCSE)
• Combined Science (GCSE)

Examination Entry Fees and individual tuition (if required) are charged extra

Alexanders International Schools is a registered centre for the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.

Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is the part of the University of Cambridge that provides qualifications for learners of English. The exams are well known for their high quality assessment of real English, as used in everyday work, study and leisure situations.

Students who reach the required standard can be entered for the following English Language Examinations at Alexanders.  Examinations are held on certain dates throughout the year so students' course dates must co-incide with these.  Students are usually entered two months before the date of the examination.

KET Key English Test
The first level Cambridge ESOL examination, at level A2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

PET Preliminary English Test
An intermediate level examination, at level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

FCE First Certificate in English
An upper intermediate level examination, at level B2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.  A qualification at this level will help a student to gain a place at a UK Boarding School .

CAE Cambridge Advanced Certificate
The second highest level Cambridge ESOL examination at level C1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, this is regarded as the minimum qualification for university entrance in this country.

Preparation for IELTS - International English Language Testing System
You can be prepared for an IELTS assessment at Alexanders.  English medium universities in the UK and overseas usually expect a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (on a scale 0 to 10 points).
